Web Design
These days there are plenty of website builders and cut and paste scripts available to make even the most amateur web design look like a pro with enough imagination. However there is much more to making your website a success than a mere image. What looks terrific from your point of view may in fact be a total mess to someone else. This is because most people who create websites account only for what they have access to when coming up with the layout and design. But what about the hundreds of popular web browsers that are out there that display your website differently? Have you considered that various browser updates that cause certain scripts to work and others not to? Do you have the software available to check your website’s compatibility in the many different windows versions, browser types and computer settings and screen resolutions that people commonly use?
But this is only the beginning. Not only do you need to be compatible visually but there are a lot of aspects of web development that most people (even many professionals) are not even aware of. For instance, did you know that adding Adsense code to your website to early during the creation process can cause your account to be banned? Are you aware that advertisements in the main section of your website (the content area) are 20 times more likely to be clicked on than ads placed in the sidebars or header? Did you know that Google doesn’t and never has used Meta keywords of a website to determine its rank or result placement?
Designing a website that is only compatible with about 35% of the browsers and personal user settings out there is a number one foul-up of most developers and only means that your website is being viewed by about 35% percent of everyone who navigates to your website. If you have 100 visitors a day and you do not step up to this compatibility issue; then the fact is, your site is really only getting about 35 visitors a day. This is even worse when you account for a larger hit ratio. Imagine if you were obtaining 5,000 visitors a day. This would mean that virtually 3,250 people are viewing your site as an amateur mess and navigating away from it the moment they arrive.
Compatibility checking is my very first concern
when creating a layout or assisting in your own designs. Not only
will your site be 100% compatible with all web browsers but they
will also be css, html, php and xml compliant where this is required
as well.
